Last month I hit the road with Rowan Stuart on his national Survivors Tour 2018.

We started off in Jo’burg, before heading to Pretoria, Bloem, Kimberley, Beaufort West, Cape Town, Worcester, Knysna, Port Elizabeth, Grahamstown, East London and finally Queenstown.

I took photos (and occasional videos) of as much of the action as I could, including live performances, radio interviews, random activities and interesting locations we stumbled upon.

There were many tour highlights, and a few low moments too. The worst parts included getting an advanced throat infection, and our vehicle having a blow-out on the trip to Knysna – the car lost control, but luckily we didn’t crash. Being stuck on the side of the freeway and trying to change the tyre while hoping no-one would come and steal all our gear was an experience I wouldn’t like to repeat!

Besides a few customary touring hic-ups, it was a very positive tour – I enjoyed seeing new parts of my country, meeting many new people, and enjoying lots of hospitality and kindness.

I’m also still such a fan of Rowan’s music and live shows – I never seem to tire of his storytelling, lyrics, voice and stage presence.

After all the action and travelling for over a month, I am happy to be home and in my own bed!

Next we head off to Ramsgate for a show this weekend, and at the end of the month, we’ll be travelling up to Mozambique for Rowan’s performance at STRAB Music Festival.

While I’m in town, contact me for my special Mother’s Day photoshoot packages. Let’s chat about your next shoot on carrynvl87@gmail.com

Just a little self portrait I took of Rowan Stuart and I while we were in Beaufort West.
PS: keep an eye open for a surprise in the Carryn Clicks world – to be announced soon!
